This board is for anyone who has or hasn't played casayws. lol basically any and everything castaways
yes playgirl, castaways is a turn-based rpg game. download this game via http://www.aprone.com
Actually no. The real link is
http://www.kaldobsky.com/audiogames/
Also, the name is castaways.
Okay, I've downloaded this game and every time I try to open and run it, it won't work. Yes, I do have the current version of winzip and jaws 13 on windows xp, but it won't work or install.
Personally I could never get a population past thirt or so without a bunch of people dying of starvation. Or if I did the Gobblins had already advanced so far that there was no time to do anything about them. I even lost quite a few guard towers. Granted I did beat the first mission eventually but seeing as how that isn't normally my preferred type of game I couldn't hold my interest in it.
Its easy enough once you understand the stratigy behind it.
You've got to set things up in the best way you can.
I had never heard of this game, or this author. Very interesting and I will definitely have to check it out. Looks like he has a lot of titles.
How do you direct your people, say to the tavern to eat?
I am still in the sandbox stage, but have figured it out.
Unlike SoundRTS you don't control your units, you just create the resources and they will begin to use them. In other words, you don't take Peasant X and command him / her to go to square j5 and do a task, you just give them a job, manage the resources properly and they will go for it.
I look forward to more fooling around with the game after work and other nightly activities. I did enjoy SoundRTS but could never compete fast enough, maybe it's an age thing: some of you all grew up with audio games. I mainly was on the sidelines and saw other people play video games as a kid, so didn't really start developing any aptitude for it till well into adult life. I'll have to piddle with this some more. Love the strategy type stuff.
warning, if the game does not work, it could be the following reason.
a
first you have to register a dll in windows.
for example type in the dosbox regsvr32 mscv200.dll and hit enter.
for help on this command type regsvr32/?
I love Castaways and have spent many hours on all the levels. Today, since I read about it on this thread, I tried Sound RTS and can't make heads or tails of it. I managed to complete the first mission but really have no idea what I'm doing and the manual didn't really help much. Castaways seems much more odered and easy to comprehend, but I'm willing to play with Sound RTS if I can get a few hints.
what is sound rts? If I'm understanding it correctly, sound rts and castaways are the same game? Or, are we talking about 2 different games. Very interesting!
They are two different games. I've also had trouble with castAways. the DLL thing ... Um ... Can someone please explain in plain English what I need to do? The instructions are confusing. It says something about copying and pasting a .dll file in a certain folder if you're running a computer with a 64-bit operating system, which I am, (and it has Windows Vista on it), then typing a string of characters which I can't remember for the life of me in the run dialog. *sigh ...* I hate technology sometimes.
